I love birds. As creatures, as inspiration for art, as motifs in patterns. Birds have always felt kind of magical to me and I can't seem to get enough of them. This is a bird I had made, by a woman I met in New York City at her shop called Lake, a number of years ago. The shop was amazing, filled with felt animals she made, vintage apothecary ephemera, sticks and shells and stuff in jars, all merchandised to perfection in this tiny, little storefront. I have since lost her card with her name and I can't find Lake when I google it. Apologies, that I don't have anymore information about the artist to pass on. Regardless, this bird brings me a lot of happiness. I asked her to make me a blue bird of happiness and she most certainly did.
For more great birds check out the wonderful posts from bird week from strange fragments. Bird week was an excellent idea and I appreciated the great job that Shannon did in curating all the wonderful bird art. Through bird week, I found my personal favorite of the week, Ann Wood, who's work reminds me a bit of my mystery blue bird creator. I love the beautiful crafting and strong character of her birds. Really good.

Thanks so much, I believe your blue bird was made by Lauri Faggioni.
