When I first saw the work of marc ricourt I thought they were pieces of ceramics. I loved the forms and the organic, seed like quality of his vessels and structures. And then I discovered that they were in fact, wood carvings. Beautiful, amazing objects, made from wood, carved and cut away, rather than "built up" as they appeared to be at first glance. Additionally, the surfaces feel almost glazed or fired because of the texture and distress he has used to transform the original wood material. Totally fabulous!

dear ada (or is it birdie?),
