beatriz milhazes is one of my favorite artists. Until yesterday, I only knew of her painting. But thanks to so bitter so sweet via oh joy, I discovered that she also does amazing screenprints. There is the same vivacious riot of pattern and color in these pieces, but thanks to the print process, there's also a particular crisp flatness achieved in this work. Both painting and printmaking have their obvious merits, and from my vantage point, it just gives me a wider range of art work to love from beatriz milhazes. Mmm.
