My friend made this card for my birthday. She collects old photographs, of various things, including dogs. I have a small collection of vintage dog photo's too, though my friend didn't know this, which made her card that much more special to me.
Thanks to flickr and the web, there are now lot's of collections of vintage photo's to see out there. The best list of old photo links I've found so far, is at hula seventy, who has a category dedicated to found photos on her blog. I checked them all out and they're all good. As I was looking through the various links, I kept hoping I'd find one dedicated to photo's with dogs in them, but I didn't.
A while ago, I'd also seen a book on vintage photo's with dogs in them, but I couldn't remember what it was called. And then today, in the great book move, I FOUND THE BOOK. It's called prince & other dogs by libby hall and it's so sweet. A long time collector of found photo's with dogs in them, the author writes, "as the collection grew, it seemed to turn into a testimony to the extraordinary relationship that can exist between dogs and people." Extraordinary and deep, is my experience. For anyone who loves dogs this is a lovely gift or treat. And I just discovered that there's a sequel, so I'm adding that to my personal holiday wish list.
