Don't you just love brown paper? I'm a super big fan of butcher paper for art and projects and brainstorming. Which is why I love this dress by irana douer, made from the beloved material. I do admit that this particular use of butcher paper has never occured to me before. And yeah, I get that you can't really wear it for long, but who cares? What a fabulous idea and creation. Very, very cool!

Last night I discovered the magical work of hella jorgensen. Ho...crocheted sea sponges, sea anenomes and coral branches, beautifully crafted and perfectly colored. I love that someone in the world is making these. Not only are they a joy to see but the curiosity, love of nature and crafted skill it takes to make them, all makes me incredibly happy.

I must have been daydreaming, but I just discovered that one of my favorite pattern designers lotta jansdotter has a blog. I found these fabulous images she took in her 2/6 post, at a visit to house in Long Island. Room after room decorated with confident, simple wallpaper patterns. I especially love the mix of the simple, bold graphics with the classic landscape paintings in gilded frames. Such confidence and joy and kind of hollywood regency sensibility too. Perfection on all fronts!

This is the one motif that repeats to make the overall fabulous patterned wallpaper, hollywood grape from neisha crosland. Reminiscent of the ordered patterns of william morris, these motifs and colors are thoroughly modern, simple and fresh. Mmm, so very nice!

when are you too old for leggings?

This is a perfect outfit, via the wonderful blog, the sartorialist. I absolutely love it. I love the leggings with the happy, printed dress with the simple, perfect, ballet slippers. Oh I wonder, when is a person too old to sport this look? Does it look like you're holding onto youth, when it's really time to just move on? Even if you can wear something, should you?
