I've been enjoying the posts about acejet170's pelican paperback collection. It's such a great example of how design limits (blue cover, simple, bold graphics, narrow color palette, black and white photography) can strengthen a brand presence while at the same time, unleash broad, creative expression. So many variations, yet also such beautiful, individual design executions that stand on their own completely. Just fabulous!

turquoise hollywood regency.

I hope I'm not the last to know about the groovy, hollywood regency-esque, totally modern fabulousness of turquoise in L.A. Regardless, I'm very happy I know about them now. This little hall vignette makes me weak at the knees. The color, the mix of furniture and accessories, the coral red lamps. Perfection.

I really like the fresh, cool feel of this lovely painting by bernd haussmann. It feels like spring to me.

colorstrology.

I don't read my horoscope and I've never really figured out numerology. Regardless, I was curious about the site colorstrology sponsered by pantone. So I checked it out, and yes, it's woo woo. Ah, but who cares? It's always fun to (ostensibly) read about yourself, especially when you like what you read. Imaginative. Builder. Visionary. Yeah, I'll take that (as if it'd ever say something like, unimaginative or lazy or dull). I'm not so sure about my "actual" personal colors but whatever. It's a fun little color distraction during the day and what could be better than that?

hotel des arts.

I want to stay at the hotel des arts next time I'm in San Francisco. Art as experience, furniture and fixtures uniform and quiet, so the murals can sing. Looks like a fabulous small adventure to me!

annie yu.

It's so exciting when you discover a new artist as you stumble and bumble along the web. I absolutely love the collages and journals by annie yu. Neat and smart and graphic with a killer sense of color, these collages make me very happy.

jan baum.

I like these metalwork pieces by jan baum an awful lot. Steel, vitreous enamel, plaster. Achitectural and decorative. Really interesting and smart and also quite beautiful.

molly vidor.

Oh boy do I love this painting by molly vidor. It's beautifully crafted. Dark and surpising and so modern.

Plus it captures one of things I don't get about myself. Why do I love these freaky, overly hybridized roses? I refuse to have them in my garden where I tend towards the old english, david austin varieties. But I definitely have soft place in my heart for these wacky varieties too. In a bouquet. Or a fabulous painting like this one. Sigh!

laura baxter.

I like the simple, almost drawn aspect of laura baxter's jewelry. It's like a wonderful, modern doodle, brought to life dimensionally in metal. Very nice!

vittorio locatelli goldfish.

I love a good goldfish motif like here and here. Or these totally fabulous dishes by vittorio locatelli for driade. Swimmingly lovely indeed.
