I'm such a big fan of using repurposed materials to make new objects and forms. I like the idea from an aesthetic point of view: the surprising results from using something designed for one thing, then made into another. I also like the idea from a sustainability point of view. Why not repurpose all the stuff we already have sitting about into something new and beautiful, and in the process, produce a little less stuff that has to be disposed of in the future someday? It makes sense to me.
So in light of all this talk about the idea of repurposed material, take a look at this wonderful example of it from manon-gignoux. Lovely, heartstopping jewelry made from old fabric and thread. Perfection, I'd say. Link via the wonderful blog hand maid by.
And if you really like repurposed stuff, check out the terrific blog street use which does a great job cataloguing tons of global examples of that very thing. Quite inspiring indeed.
