purple day.

It's finally sunny here, the temperature is perfect and it's Saturday, so that means it's time to head to the farmer's market. Look at the purple beauty I found there today. Sweet peas by the arm load and cherries (sorry, a little blurry here) as big as gum balls. The scents, the tastes, the colors, the day. As far as I'm concerned it really doesn't get much better than this!

I remember seeing this amazing wall graphic in some magazine from about a million years ago. I loved it, but of course cut it out without any detail information attached as I've been known to do on occasion. Well today I stumbled apon the site, the collection, and happiness for me, I found that they carry the very hand screenprinted wallpaper, done by tracy kendall, that I'd fallen in love with so many years ago. I love the idea of framing it and running it horizonally on a long wall. It's too fabulous for words!

hiroki morinoue.

There is something very late 70's about the motifs in the lovely print by hiroki morinoue. At first I thought I didn't like that fact and then the more time I spent with this wonderful print, the more I didn't care about that. I love the colors and the order and the balance of raw and refinement he's achieved here. There is a lovely warmth and calm about this piece of art and really, who couldn't use a little more of that in their life?

Yikes, are these patterned pieces of art made from beads by cilla ramnek ever spectacular. I've seen them before and then stumbled apon them again today. I love them as a group. Vibrant, bright, exuberant. They make me happy.

This is a detail from a chandelier by eva menz. Otherworldly, magical, whimsical, crafted. I want to lie underneath it and look up. Maybe I'd see something that looks like this if I did. So delightful.

polly verity and mark swanson.

I know that we've seen stags and deer to the point of overload, but I don't care. This wire and paper stag by artist polly verity and this crystal embellished stag head by artist mark swanson are too fabulous to ignore. Each explores the subject matter from very different vantage points, and each is so successful in the result of that exploration. I certainly wouldn't not cry nights to have either of these lovely beasts grace my walls.

The combination of blue and white is so comforting to me. Maybe it's because of my love for denim or french striped tops or indigo batik, but for whatever reason, it always calms me. So that's probably one of the reasons I like this lovely drawing by bo joseph so much.
