I'm totally in love with these drawings from a series by anna hepler. I think they're remarkable in their narrow focus and resulting diversity. And I always love a good story of repurposing something old to make something new: "each drawing was generated by drawing on top of discarded etching proofs using ink, acrylic, sharpie, and gesso." Nice, nice, so very nice!

kanymo.

I can assure you that I would not cry nights to have one or two of these delights by kanymo. Not one tear would be shed.

richard a goldberg.

Are you familiar with the delightful illustrations of richard a goldberg? Well I was not until happily stumbling across them a while back at roadside scholar. What a wonderful find.

harrell fletcher.

Sometimes it's the simplest things that can make us so happy. I just love this photo piece by harrell fletcher, found via the wonderful i heart photograph. Many of the work featured on his site is similar in it's approach. Photos with elements painted out with flat color, effectively changing the reference points the eye uses for balance and navigation. It's really interesting how something so common can feel so otherworldly through simple isolation and reframing. Very nice indeed.

kristina sostarko.

The prints and patterns by kristina sostarko are really terrific. I love the roughness of the hand in her work, not to mention her lovely motifs and the sense of color she employs. And I have to say that the header on her blog is one of my favorites to date. Very cool stuff indeed.

molly briggs.

Ok, so I'm happily grooving on the wonderful paintings of molly briggs. These pieces are a part of a series of paintings, all basically using the same colors and subject matter, yet all very different in the end. This is a great example of the exploration of an idea using very tight restrictions and then running deep with the storyline. And that color palette! So fresh and surprising. Yep, these paintings are pretty groove-worthy.

jane masters.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I love spirographs, or at least the patterns and motifs that could have been made by one. I'm pretty certain that this amazing silverpoint etching by jane masters was created the hard way, by hand, without the help of a plastic toy. Sigh. I love it so much. Isn't it just plain incredible?

mokokaku.

I'm really liking these patterns by mokokaku.

hans vangso.

I am such a sucker for this kind of raw, imperfect ceramic object. This particular beauty is by the artist hans vangso, and quite frankly, makes me a bit weak in the knees. Imperfect finishing and surfacing maybe, but to me the end result is absolute perfection.

Mm, I'm loving this series of plaster on wood pieces by marilu datoli hartnett. I love the pattern and oh, oh, the color palettes. Luscious and lovely I know exactly where I'd hang them. Mm.
