Beyond the unquestionable beauty of the work of jolynn krystosek, I'm taken aback by the uniqueness of how it is created. Carved wax. Carved wax I'm telling you! Where did that come from? And thank goodness it did. The resulting art is so arresting, so romantic, so fresh that it's hard to really describe. Reminiscent of carved cameos and ivory sculptures, it also feels so modern, like cut paper or a decorated cake. My mind is bouncing around in the effort to define it, which only reinforces the feeling that this work is something very special. But however it's described, in the end, it's just beautiful to look at, and really that's more than enough for me!

this is really beautiful; it whispers.
