The hand colored, silver photographs of kate breakey are moving on a number of levels. First and foremost, they are just magnificent to look at. Beautifully composed, these images of birds, butterflies and mammals are amazing in their own right. The deeper story, the sadder one, is that all the creatures she is using as her subjects are dead. Her book small deaths chronicles and honors "the often unnoticed animals that live, and die, in our proximity". I find that my heart aches when I see these portraits. It aches but is also very grateful that she has so sensitively memorialized these lovely creatures we often don't see or take for granted.

All of the art you find and post are wonderful, really nice job!
