I have to admit that I'm not a super big fan of the skull motif craze in art and design today. Having said that, I do really like this illustration of said motif by biddy maroney. The illustration skill in this piece is undeniable but it's the composition and story that truly capture my heart. Lifes circle, the vibrancy of the bird building it's new home in the skull, all create a nice tension and power. Very nicely done!

I agree with you regarding the skull motif and the fact that this one is very nice in composition. There does seem to be a lot of birds around lately, trends come and go I suppose. I see lots of photos on flickr recently taken from birds eye. I find them interesting. We all have cameras now and photography is made all the easier for that reason. I was surprised to see though that the painting that won painting of the year here in Ireland was painted by a young Polish man and taken from a birds eye view. I think this will become a trend. Here's a link to his photo. angsitehttp://fakty.interia.pl/galerie/wielka-brytania-i-usa/bartosz-kolata/zdjecie/duze,632679,1,578
