It's a bird filled morning it seems. I'm loving this painting of a hummingbird with graffiti calligraphy by blaine fontana. The colors, the nature meets urban tension and of course, the skillful techniques used to make this piece, all add up to something quite wonderful, as far as I'm concerned. Mmm.

billy hassell.

I'm loving the vibrancy and graphic quality of the monotypes and oil paintings of billy hassell. They're incredibly decorative and lush, but additionally, many of his pieces they tell the story of real birds in real environments. Whether abstracted and playful like these examples, or more contextual and grounded in reality, these birds inhabit a rich, colorful and seductive world that's easy to want to explore.

terhi tolvanen.

Yeah, this is stunning. Made from silver, porcelain, agate and labradorite, this impressive brooch is the work of artist terhi tolvanen. Mixed up, beautifully crafted and composed, it most definitely makes my heart skip a beat or two. Sigh.

kim carney.

I'm really liking this photography from kim carney. I like the composition and slightly askew angle of this photograph, as well as the blurry cars and lights and guard rails, their clarity washed away with the rain. The colors are amazing too and the scene itself is so familiar, so northwestern, so winter here. I've experienced this image a thousand times, yet I've never seen it so beautifully captured. Amazing.

andy moon wilson.

I'm totally grooving on the wonderful, intricate drawings by andy moon wilson. Their whimsy and personality filled linework reminds me of the work of john rombola a bit. And oh, the studies just about pattern are a vision to behold in their own right. Fabulousness totally abounds here!

trove.

I love these weathered pieces of fret work from trove. They're as good as any sculpture, utilitarian in their purpose as architectural objects, but also decorative and non-functional architectural objects in the truest sense.

And how about these lovely, simple, hemp and vintage linens? Aren't they just yummy? Mm, I'm liking the treasures that are at trove a whole lot!

christopher taggart.

I have to admit that I'm a pretty big fan of obsessive, maximal art. I don't have the patience to make it myself but I always admire the work of anyone who does, like these fabulous examples by christopher taggart. I just love the simple 2 color palette juxtaposed with the dense, complex linework of the his art. Layer apon layer, lacelike, sophisticated, painstakingly detailed and patterned, these pieces are just so beautiful.

tina rath.

Are these animals or plants or minerals? Actually they are jewelry. Amazing, intriguing, surprising jewelry from tina rath. I can't get over the mix of materials and the incredible skill it took to make such strange and wonderful brooches. Honestly, all you need to do is wear one of these stunners and you're set to take center stage. Wow!

victor polson.

In case you need any inspiration to eat your vegetables (which I often do), make a beeline to the amazing photography of victor polson. Oh my goodness, who knew food could look so good and fresh and downright aesthetic? All I want now is a pretty salad to top off the experience! I really love this stainless steel and gold faceted brooch by lola brooks. It feels kind of victorian yet totally modern, primal yet very glamorous too. Yummy, to say the least.
