I've been away at a conference for the last 4 days and so much has changed in my garden while I was away. The first real color is happening now, bulbs blooming where they weren't a minute ago. I love this time of the year because it starts with lovely, precious individuals, bulbs here, a flowering shrub there. Then in a few months, it becomes a symphony of layered plants and flowers, making it hard to distinguish one from another. Bulbs, like these beauties by annie rouse above, and later, in a few months, roses, like the lovely one pictured below. These beautiful paintings happily remind me that it's all beginning again.
