I'm loving the bold graphicness of these spray paint on canvas paintings by davis rhodes. Simple, confident and fresh, I love how the empty spaces are as important as the filled in this work. What's not there can be as telling as what is. I also find myself thinking of type or signage, deconstructed and reframed. Something's being communicated here but because of cropping and scale it's obscured. And yes, the bright happy colors juxtaposed with the simplicity black and white are just fantastic.
