passage quilts.

These breathtaking quilts are a part of an exhibit called passages. Each quilt commemorates and honors a personal relationship as well as a milestone or passage in life. "Beginning with the architecture of the clothing, these quilts are pieced without a predetermined pattern. This process provides the maker an opportunity to examine his or her life patterns. The resulting quilts reflect the relationship of the maker to the materials, retain a sense of the body, and in the case of bereavement, carry the consoling essence of the beloved." I love the contemplative process it takes to make these stunning masterpieces. And then of course, there is the beauty each possesses in it's own right. Amazing work on so many levels!

The quilt above is by julie and libby manly and the one below is done by the community from macdowell county. I'm sorry but I lost the original link to this wonderful discovery. Apologies!
