Lino prints and lovely crocheted beach collections are just the start to all the crafted beauty and magic to be found here. With treasures as sweet as these to be found out there, I say is let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

And this is a lovely video about harnessing the power of wind, originally found on what possessed me, a new blog to me that I'm really enjoying, 

   

And this very interesting video called dinner to dye for is about a collaboration between textile designer sasha duerr and chef leif hedendal who created an event where participants first created dyes from a group of plants and then later had a meal made from the same types of plants. What an fascinating idea!

Today seems to have a theme. Dots. I don't know why but there you have it. And starting out, here are some wonderfully modern, gorgeously colored dot patterns from karel martens. Very ordered yet full of movement and pulsing energy, these pieces feel so sassy and smart. Love, love, love them, yes indeed.

I can not get over how amazing these art pieces by takahashi hiroko are. A mix of traditional kimono design and textile design processes with modern, bold graphic language creates these utterly arresting pieces of art. Here's a great interview with the artist.

dadang christanto.

 

There's something very calming for me about these lovely acrylic on belgian linen paintings by dadang christanto. Calming but also confronting, like some trial or struggle is being overcome through contemplation and resolve. Wisdom is being gained here and I feel a bit honored to witness it. I'm surprised by the feelings this work brings up for me. I love that kind of surprise!

george long.

 

I'm really liking these mixed media pieces by george long. Layered, mysterious and beautifully textured, I'd love to see them in a grouping playing off of each other's similarities and differences. Lovely work!

These gorgeous ceramics by barbara hast feel almost edible in their delicacy and decorativeness. Lovely colors, lovely forms and oh so very lovely textured detailing. I have a similar rush when looking at this beautiful work as I do when I see a plate full of beautifully crafted petit fors. Luckily for us, these will stay around far longer than the pretty dessert they remind me of!
