Great gardeners are artists as far as I'm concerned, sculpting with living material and painting with fleeting color. It's undeniably the case that piet ouldof is the finest of artists. I love his philosophy, that gardens are the transition between wildness and civilization and as such, should express elements of both within them. His work makes my heart sing, the plant materials he uses, the color palettes he creates and the amazing compositions he constructs. Amazing work, pure and simple!
Oh yes! Piet Oudolf has been one of my absolute favourite designers for years. My poor husband, who does not know much about gardens or landscape design, now recognises the modern, naturalistic look so passionately promoted by Oudolf, he laughs at the way I pore over the pictures in my "garden p*rn" magazines and books and he also concedes that if and when we go to the Netherlands, a stop at the Oudolf nursery is definitely on the agenda....
Glad to see that you share a similar aesthetic sense!.
