mystery painter.

Ok, so I need a little help from the collective art wisdom of the web. These are some of copies of a series of paintings I copied ages ago, by an artist who's name I neglected to note in the process. I'm totally in love with these stunning, dark, dense and utterly whimsical work, to say the least, so not surprisingly I'd love to find out who did it. Does it ring any bells with anyone? Help!

Yes, they are great. Sorry to say that I don't know who made them either. Though I must say they remind me very much of some photography by an artist ...(shit, now I forgot the name. I'll think about it and come back to you if/when I remember). His work is photography, but looks like paintings
