I think these illustrations by shonagh rae are wonderful. Modern and fresh they also have an updated nostalgia about them that I love. Great line work and color palettes too...

It's been quite a while since I checked in on the beautiful work of julie evans. It's cool to have been blogging long enough that I can revisit favorite artists to see the changes in their work. Well what a happy surprise to see the latest, free form "drawings" from this talented artist! Aren't they gorgeous?

Two eyes with wings

Thank you, thank you to the wonderful design for mankind for introducing me to the breathtaking work of ky anderson. How much do I love it, oh let me count the ways. The color palettes, so narrow yet rich. The strange and beautiful motifs, so mysterious and yet friendly. And yes the compositions too, each particular to the painting itself yet also so clearly part of a larger narrative. True love, yes indeed!

claudio tschopp.

Picture 22

I love claudio tschopp's paintings. I was lucky enough to purchase one his wonderful pieces at the cascade aids fund raiser a few years back. The strong use of the material, the rich energy in the brush work, the amazing color palettes are undeniable. The deeper narrative of his work is what's more mysterious and intriguing. I never get tired of looking at his work, drawn in by the strength of each piece separately and together, I'm always happy to stay for a while to see what I might learn.

Yeah, these paintings by timothy mcdowell are close to perfection as far as I'm concerned. Patterned and translucently layered, their story is one of a very mysterious and evocative nature. And don't get me started on their stunning, subdued color palettes. Oh happy, happy monday indeed!
