Wow, the moody, dusty, blur of the world that lenka konopasek creates is at once attractive and repelling. The often dark beauty of modern life, industrial life, is so beautifully captured in these eery, diffused paintings. So very nice!

I'm loving these brilliantly colored paintings of stately homes by richard cuerden. Everyday scenes made surprising and a bit disturbing through an unexpected color palette. Oh and yes it doesn't hurt that their beautifully conceived and crafted paintings either. Gorgeousness abounds this morning thanks to these wonderful pieces.

Aren't these wooden sculptures of houses by victor stuart graham wonderful? I love their off kilter, naive quality as well as the subdued color palettes. Very whimsical and fun!

More wonderful work by lisa dahl. So smart and modern and also a bit sentimental. Not an easy balance to achieve, but achieve it she did! Lovely, lovely work to start the weekend off right!

I'm really liking these drawings of buildings and city skylines and industrial things by michelle ramin. Liking them a whole lot! Beautifully composed and crafted, I like the fact that I see the hand behind the making. A bit rough and nicely dense in color and layering, this work is fresh and modern. Mmm, what a very nice way to end the week.

I'm totally grooving on these beautiful mixed media paintings of houses and everyday buildings by leah giberson. They're remarkable in their compositions and perspective. What is it about art about architecture that's so comforting?

One of my favorite artists, nathan abels, has some new work up on his terrific blog. I really do adore the subject matter he explores, the architecture and landscapes of modern life, all beautifully rendered and conceived. It doesn't get much better than this as far as I'm concerned.

I'm loving the flat, dry, almost emotionless feel of these wonderful paintings by jake longstreth. Reduced to their simplest forms, these scenes of everyday architecture seem quiet and still. Such a nice alternative to the noisy reality from which they're derived.

These dimensional wall pieces by jim osman are smart and beautiful. I love their concept, the reduction of home to symbols (like so much mc mansion architecture today). Door + window + brick facade = home. But more than that I love the soft, dense pastel and neutral colors he uses, achieved through the pigmentation of plaster. Beauty on so many levels!
