Yikes, these photographs of birds, shot from behind by audrey corregan are absolutely breathtaking. We're so used to seeing images of birds from the front, animated with faces and personality. But seen from this vantage point we're forced to focus on the amazing texture and layering of their feathers and forms. Such beauty is quite humbling really.

I'm loving these sweet ceramic salt containers by rockett st george found via the lovely cher ami. Mm, I think I need a pair to grace my humble table...

kathleen lolley.

There are so many amazing paintings to choose from by kathleen lolley that it's hard to pick which one to feature. This work is so beautifully conceived, deeply layered with story and mystery. Each piece is remarkable in it's own right, beautifully composed and rendered. But it's the collective grouping of these moments within the larger lolleyland narrative that really gets my heart racing. What's the total story here? Intriguing and compelling, all I know is that I want more, more, more. And heh, that's just fine by me.

What is it about birds that make me so happy? I don't know for sure but what I do know for sure is how much I like these lovely pencil sketches of a couple of them by lauren nassef. Aren't they wonderful? And oh how nice are the patterned backgrounds. Loveliness all around as far as I'm concerned.

Good morning wonderful birds by atsushi toyama. I love how bright and whimsical and modern these prints (or are they paintings) of birds are. Their scale, how they fill the page and please, their color, all just knock my socks off. Happy, happy Monday thanks to these lovely feathered friends.

Look at these happy owls by andrew holder that I found thanks to the wonderful modern craft. I lu-hu-ve the repeated birds, different colors, slight variations, all presented the same way. Brilliant.

Hello happy bird illustrations by penelope dullaghan. I love the textured hand and fresh color of this work. The materials used to make these illustrations is confidently revealed, giving it a happy accessibility and charm. So nice!

carrie marill.

Once in a while I stumble across an artist who's work touches on a number of my particular subject loves, and that is most definitely the case with carrie marill. Not only are her paintings and drawings amazing in their simple, flat, modern depiction of birds, houses, mushrooms and landscape but their compositions are surprising and the color palettes fresh. Beyond the fact that they are lovely to look at, there's a deeper commentary going on here that's very compelling. The intersections between human civilization and nature are being both sensitively and meaningfully explored in the art she's making. To say that I'm swooning here is an understatement. I love, love, love this work.

kareem rizk.

I know you may have seen these lovely prints by kareem rizk at some other wonderful places like please sir and poppy talk, but I couldn't resist posting about them too. Aren't they just terrific? The color, the compositions and of course, the pretty birds themselves. They make me happy, pure and simple.

paul villinski.

Help, I'm having trouble catching my breath from the beauty of these butterfly installations by paul villinski. Aren't they flipping amazing? I love the colors, the forms, the swarming compositions of these pieces. And if that isn't enough, there's the fact that they're made from the lowly, discarded beer can. I mean please, does it get much better than this? Beauty and repurposed materials. Perfection!
