What I'm particularly liking about these abstract paintings by jean arnold is their color palettes. There's a freshness and energy about them that draws me in and keeps me paying attention. I find myself thinking of citrus flavors, warm breezes and a buoyant mood when I look at these. And I'm always up for anything that feels that good!

Midori

Aren't these geometric paintings by richard schur lovely?  I'm so grooving on their color palettes!  Fresh and a bit odd, because of the compositions and the simplicity of the geometric motifs, this work is all about color for me.

Oh my goodness, the colors of these abandoned places captured by fulvio romiti are totally amazing. I just can't get over beautiful and sad and surprising these photographs are. There is something so compelling about the demise of a place that was once alive with energy and and people. I'm struck with how wasteful we are as a species and yet I'm also moved by the power of entropy and decay. There are forces at play that are far bigger than us and at times that provides me with real comfort. For more amazing images of places like this check out the site abandoned places.

I seem to be in love with bright color on brown grounds lately. Here a couple of random photographs I took recently that prove this strange interest on my part. Go figure.

These paintings/assemblages by joachim grommek are pretty wonderful. I love their fabulous color and the fact that their construction is revealed so openly. There's a confident transparency here. No covering up of process or making it something it is not. I love these.

pale pink.

Picture_11

Sometimes a color just grabs you and works it's way into your heart. Lately that color for me has been the palest of pinks. It's not like pink hasn't had it's day in recent years, but for some reason it's singing it's sirens song to me lately. I want it in a soft, lightweight cashmere sweater most. Or in art or glass or something. I really don't know exactly what form would satisfy my craving most. I just want it. Sigh.

The lovely photograph above is from erin and the pretty glass one below is off of ebay and unfortunately I lost the link to the seller.

rod hunting and tiffany paige.

Picture_9_2

This polaroid photography project by rod hunting and tiffany paige explores the colors red and blue, found on bike rides throughout their Chicago neighborhood. Not only are the images beautifully conceived and captured, but the exercise itself highlights the fact that there's always artistic inspiration to be found, even outside one's backdoor. A simple concept, an assignment of one color, a bike, a camera and of course, a sensitive, observant eye, and you have the makings for a wonderful journey. I love this piece so very much.

Buks

This beautiful installation by marianne viero is made with 53 library books, their covers bleached by the sun and arranged by color. Repurposed, smartly curated and so very inspiring. Isn't it just remarkable? Sigh.
