For those of you who live in Portland, run, don't walk to the amazing gees bend quilt show opening tonight at the wonderful elizabeth leach gallery. For those of you who don't live here, I humbly offer that it might be a good time to take a moment to reacquaint yourself with their breathtaking beauty and powerful story anyway. They never disappoint in their artistic beauty and gravity and they always move one with their deep, meaningful stories. Such beauty and grace and power is always worthy of a visit every once in a while!

Believe it or not, these beautiful photographs of deborah horrell's amazing glass sculptures don't do them enough justice. In person, their luminosity and unique texture literally grab your senses. And heart. There's something so very moving about these simple, highly crafted forms brought to life by a process that is both painstaking and risky. And then of course there's the heart stopping color. I find this work breathtaking on so many levels.

I've been a huge fan of alabama chanin for ever and a day. In real life the indisputable, jaw dropping beauty of their textiles is hard to forget. Each one is more beautiful than the next. Crafted, romantic, modern, distressed, embellished, over the top. They're all that and more. Truly, it doesn't get much better than this as far as I'm concerned!
