I'm really liking the work I found by x** on flickr. Interesting architectural studies, collages and sketches plus explorations around graffiti and free form doodles. I can see the ideas formulating here and it's really fun to watch. Very cool work indeed.

I've been writing this blog long enough now that I've covered a lot of artists whose work I would rank among my favorites. The problem is I could have written about them a couple of years ago and though I try not to repeat myself too often (though sometimes I do so without realizing...scary) sometimes you just have to share a favorite again. So in that spirit, let's all revel in the beauty of jennifer judd mcgee's wonderful drawings again. I love the line work, the happy spirit of the motifs, the smart compositions. Today I'm featuring the black line drawings on printed pages because well, they're just so fabulous. Lovely!

Yes, I like the raw, doodle-y, calligraphic drawings of anne-lise coste very much. Especially as a series, floor to ceiling, wall to wall. I also love black and white as the main color palette, with an occasional study in blue to set one on a bit of a different track. Just lovely.

I'm such a fan of a great sketchbook. I love seeing ideas come to be, noodled, played with before they grow up into a more finished piece of art. Or maybe that's all they become, a wonderful sketch, a piece of art unto themselves. One such lovely sketchbook I stumbled on recently is this beauty done by sarah king. Oh my, does she have a wonderful hand and strong sense of character in her drawings. I'm just gaga for the confidence of her line.

I'm really liking the graphic, stylized, doodle-esque quality of the wonderful drawings by lyn horton. The layering and texture of her work gives dimension and depth to the otherwise flat study of line and form in these drawings. And I'm such a big fan of watching an artist deeply explore an idea iteratively, pushing and prodding the edges with each successive study. These are just lovely.

I have a real love for obsessive, patterned artwork. There's something so compelling about the detailing and the obvious time it took to make it come to be. These gouache paintings on paper by geoffrey todd smith are such a fine example of that very thing. I love their patterning, which remind me of aboriginal dreaming paintings as well as illustrations of some intricate brain function. Primal and scientific, decorative and precise, this work draws me in and keeps me there. Thinking, wondering and marveling, which is something I really appreciate.

I'm just loving these doodle-y sketches by alice stevenson. The line work, the different mediums, the random compositions all feel so spontaneous and fresh. And oh so very pretty too.

Aren't these wonderful line drawings by ilan katin? Simple, meandering, patterned, organic and a bit obsessive. Mm, I like them so.

I really like this print from meartdesign. Doodle work, a personal drawing style favorite, brought to a sharp, fresh level. And I love the color palette. I'm sorry, chartreuse, grey, black and white. Does it get much better than that? Happy today.
