While driving down the highway past the railroad yard the other day, my eye was caught by the amazing graffiti on the train cars. We've all seen graffiti before, some good, some not so good and though this was the case with train graffiti, overall, there was more good than bad. Maybe the taggers have more time to do their work because the trains sit in the yard for a while. I don't know the drill, but I was so enthralled with what I saw the first time, that I came back to photograph what I'd seen a couple of days later. The fun thing was that once I got the shots of some of the cars from the side of the road, I wanted to see more, so the hunt was on. This took us to the industrial, working part of town that I'd never had call to see before: over bridges, down roads through fields next to refineries, past enormous hangers with mysterious things being built inside. A great blogger friend told me that blogs can take you on adventures you'd never have gone on otherwise, and this was a good example of such a thing. We saw the flower mart and the warehouses for all the food and car parts and furniture that we buy in town. Nothing pretty or fancified out there. Just buildings designed for work and storage and business. And railroad cars, many of which are decorated with amazing graffiti from who knows where. It was a great small adventure!
