I'm kind of in love with J. Crew right now, which freaks me out a bit. I don't like to think of myself as a "J. Crew type of gal" but lately, I've been finding ALOT of what I'm looking for there. I admit that I gravitate to the preppie, sporty sensibility anyway but for many reasons I haven't always found what I wanted at J. Crew. Actually, there have been years that I haven't stepped foot in the door and then suddenly, the product looks good to me again and I'm there every month or so. It all started about the time that Mickey Drexler of Gap fame, was brought in to revitalize the brand, and as far as I'm concerned, he did that very thing. Their basics are the best and I am officially replacing my callout out for Petit Bateau as the perfect white tee with J. Crews. They are softer, longer in the waist as well as more affordable than the Petit Bateau's I also love. I'll still get unique or special Petit Bateau's but they will only be to augment my new favorite basic tee from J. Crew.
Having said all that, the thing that makes me love J. Crew the most of all, is the fact that they have decided not to carry real fur in their line. At a time when fur is "fashion" again, I am more than happy to patronize a company who has some ethical smarts to do the right thing. Not only do their tees fit great but it also make me feel good I'm wearing something made by a company with a bit of conscience. It's a small thing but it all adds up karmically in the end, don't you think?
