I like to explore other people's links on their blogs. It makes sense that if you like their blog, you'll probably like their links, so it's a nice small adventure, when I have the time. I even thought about making it a feature on my blog, kind of like my lame attempt at 3 favorite links of the week concept. A "quick hit" of great links from a favorite blog. But I haven't gotten around to it yet, plus I'm a bit detered by my "3 favorites" effort...a fine idea, but I just can't seem to execute against it consistantly.
Anyway, that's a long winded introduction into what I found today while exploring the illustrator ana ventura's wonderful blog (which is a delight in it's own right, by the way). I found a link to the lovely work of amy alice. So fresh and smart. I really love her use of the black and white photo's of birds (are they from the newspaper?), embellished with calligraphic line work and flair. There is a nice tension between the rough photo of the bird and the celebratory, reverence of the line work around it. It makes me happy. And check out the rest of her portfolio too. Her collages and assemblages are fantastic.
